Aakash Tablet Gets Rs 765 Crore – Budget 2012
Popularly known as the world’s cheapest tablet, Aakash tablet project has been provided about Rs 765 crore in Union Budget 2012-2013, which is expected to start the second phase of the Aakash project to start in April 2012, though the first phase is still stuck in a gridlock.
The assignment for Aakash has been made through ICT of Ministry of Human Resource and Development, under the National Mission for Education. The low-cost tablet had been launched by the mission, last year.
As per the official sources, the funds allocated for the project are sufficient for the second phase. Aakash-2 is expected to cost about Rs 569 crore to the government, for about 50 lakh Aakash tablets.
A senior government official associated with the project said, “Maximum part of the funds is expected to be used for the Aakash project. And some of the money will be used for the development of e-content.”
The government aims to acquire about 50 lakh Aakash tablets at Rs 2,276 each, in a phased manner. 50 per cent of the cost (about Rs 1,138 per tablet) will get subsidised by the central government of India. Punjab Exit Poll Results: 3 out of 4 polls give an edge to congress
Majority of the exit polls conducted by various organisations and national news channels, shown at the end of polling at 5 PM on Saturday, have predicted more seats for the Congress compared to the SAD-BJP combine in the Punjab Assembly.
The India TV-C Voter exit poll has predicted 62 to 68 seats for the Congress, 44 to 50 seats for SAD-BJP, 1-4 seats for the PPP, and 1-4 for the others.
The Headlines Today exit poll has not ruled out a victory for the SAD-BJP, though it has given a clear edge to the Congress. This exit poll has predicted 58 to 62 seats for the Congress, and 50 to 54 seats for the SAD-BJP combine. It has given 2 to 4 seats to the PPP and the BSP, anywhere between 5 to 8 seats to the others.
The News24-Today Chanakya exit poll has predicted 60 seats for the Congress and 52 seats for the SAD-BJP. It has predicted 5 seats for the others.

IAF Mirage-2000 crashes, pilot safe
Jaipur, A Mirage-2000 fighter plane of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Monday crashed near a village in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district, soon after taking off from an airbase in Gwalior, in a second mishap involving the aircraft type in 11 days.
The pilot managed to eject safely, IAF officials said. This is the second crash involving a Mirage-2000 aircraft since February 24.
"The crash took place 100 kilometres south-west of Jaipur near Baman Baas village in Sawai Madhopur district. Soon after taking off from Gwalior, the plane crashed at 1245 hours. The pilot managed to bail out safely," the officials said.
IAF and Army teams have reached the site of the accident and the pilot is being attended to for his injuries, they said, adding that the aircraft was on a routine sortie.
A court of inquiry (CoI) has been ordered to ascertain the reason for the crash.
Superintendent of police, Sawai Madhopur, Anshuman Singh said a police party had been dispatched to the crash spot which was located in a hilly area.
This is the third crash involving an IAF aircraft this year. A Kiran MK II trainer plane had crashed in Chennai on January 30.

CTPS Hostel Organises Annual Athletic Meet
Jalandhar, Feb.3 (Doaba News Service)- An Inter House Annual Athletic Meet was organized in the premises of CTPS Hostel. Athletes hailing from Beas and Satluj Houses participated in the meet with full zeal and fervour. The main events of the meet were 100m, 200m, 400m, Long Jump, Shotput, Relays, Medley Relay for sub-Juniors, Juniors and Seniors Categories. Both the houses gave a tough fight to each other in playground in both tracks as well as field events. The performance of each and every Athlete was an exemplary one which was applauded by one and all present there. Mrs. Lakhvinder Kaur CTPS and Vice-Principal Mrs. Anumita Gosal were present to recognise and appreciate the efforts of the House-masters as well as of the participants. Ms. Mamta, House-mistress Satluj House and Ms. Shalini House-mistress Beas House were there to back-up the participants their houses.
