Nepal Floods: 5-Year-Old Among 3 Indians Rescued from Trishuli Bazaar, 169 Evacuated So Far

The External Affairs Ministry has said that three more Indian nationals, including a five-year-old child, have been rescued from the flood-hit Trishuli Bazaar area of Nepal, taking the total number of Indian evacuees to 169.

Briefing the media in New Delhi yesterday on the safety of Indian nationals, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that 275 Indian nationals remain missing.

He said that 1,907 Indians have safely crossed over to Nepal from China. Randhir Jaiswal added that the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu is facilitating the return of Indian evacuees on flights back home. He said there are no Indian travellers stranded in the Tibetan Autonomous Region.

India Sends Around 95 Tonnes of Relief Material to Nepal

The spokesperson said India has supplied around 95 tonnes of relief material to Nepal since devastating flash floods hit the country on 26th of last month.

The MEA spokesperson said India will continue to provide assistance to Nepal as per the requirements of the government in that country. He said India is planning to send more forensic kits, Bailey bridges and other materials requested by the government of Nepal in the coming days.

Nepal Flood Death Toll Crosses 1,340

Meanwhile, the death toll from the floods in the Himalayan nation has crossed 1340 after rescue workers recovered more bodies from affected areas.

Emergency teams have rescued more than 12,000 people, while roughly 5,000 remain missing as search and rescue operations continue.
