Doraha, August 25 (Amrish Anand) – Tabla, one of the most popular percussion instruments of South Asia, holds a significant place in Indian classical music. Among the notable exponents of this art is Punjab’s celebrated tabla player, Mushtaq Ali.Born in Ludhiana to Shri Ajit Lal (Jeeta) and Smt. Pasho, Mushtaq Ali displayed remarkable command over the instrument from a very young age. He received training under eminent tabla maestros including Late Ustad Iqbal Mohammad, Late Ustad Rang Ali, Late Salim Ali, and Sadiq Salim of the Punjab Gharana.Over the years, Ali has served as a tabla instructor in several institutions and continues to actively contribute to the field of music. His artistry has taken him to international stages across New Zealand, England, and other countries, earning him global recognition.He has accompanied many leading artists such as the late Ustad Sardool Sikander, Pandit Ashok Chanchal, Jasbir Jassi, Manmohan Waris,Kamal Heer,Satwinder Bitti,kulwinder Kelly ,Gurlej Akhtar,Lakha naaz,Akhtar ali matoi Maithali Thakur,Surinder Khan, Ravinder Grewal, Feroz Khan, Maithili Thakur, Meenu Atwal, Rafiq Chanchal, Bawa Sikandar, Rani Armaan, Simran Simmi, Lovjeet, and Masha Ali, among others.Known for his soulful playing and magical command over rhythm, Mushtaq Ali continues to inspire both audiences and fellow musicians alike.
