Indian Delegation Reaches Pakistan for SCO Meeting for First Time Since Operation Sindoor

For the first time since Operation Sindoor, an Indian delegation has reached Pakistan to participate in a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). The Indian delegation is being led by SCO National Coordinator Alok Dimri at the meeting in Islamabad.

The meeting is discussing programmes to be held under Pakistan’s SCO presidency, preparations for upcoming meetings and other issues related to the organisation. The SCO summit is also proposed to be held in Islamabad in August 2027.

Focus on SCO Issues, Not Bilateral Talks

India has made it clear that its participation in the SCO meeting in Pakistan is aimed at discussing multilateral issues related to the organisation. It is not being viewed as a separate bilateral dialogue between India and Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the process of inviting leaders of member countries for next year’s SCO summit in Islamabad is also underway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to be invited to the summit.
