SAD Stages Protest in Payal Against Lathi-Charge on Sanitation Workers and MGNREGA Workers

Doraha July 24 (Amrish Anand):The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) staged a protest on Rara Sahib Road, Payal, against the police lathi-charge on sanitation workers in Barnala and MGNREGA workers in Khanna. Led by Halka In-charge S.Manjit Singh Madnipur and National Senior Vice-President Engg. s.Jagdev Singh Boparai, protesters raised slogans against the Punjab Government and burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.Addressing the gathering, Manjit Singh Madnipur and Engg. Jagdev Singh Boparai condemned the police action, demanded strict action against the officials responsible, and urged the government to address the workers' genuine demands instead of using force. Jathedar S.Raghbir Singh Saharanmajra,Bibi Karamjit kaur Kaddon,Bibi Jaspreet Kaur Arraichan, Bibi Nitu Singh,and Jaspreet Singh also addressed the gathering and demanded the Chief Minister's resignation on moral grounds. A large number of SAD leaders and workers participated in the protest.
