India Wins 17th Gold Medal at Asian Games

17-year-old archer Kumkum Mohod won the gold medal for India at the Asian Games on Saturday. She became the first Indian female athlete to win a gold medal in the women’s recurve individual event.

Kumkum defeated South Korea’s Oh Ye Jin in the final in a shootout. In the shoot-off, Oh Ye Jin scored 8 points, while Kumkum scored 10 points. With this, Kumkum became the Asian Games champion.

This is India’s fifth gold medal in archery. India’s overall medal tally has reached 77, including 25 silver and 35 bronze medals.
