Sanitation Workers Hold Protest March During Doraha Shutdown, Raise Slogans Against Punjab Government

Doraha, July 30 (Amrish Anand): During the Punjab Bandh, sanitation workers in Doraha organized a massive protest march in support of their long-pending demands. The workers marched through the main streets of the town, raising slogans against the Punjab Government and demanding the immediate acceptance of their legitimate demands.The protest march received strong support from leaders of various political parties. Among those present were former MLA and District Congress Committee Khanna President S. Lakhvir Singh Lakha, Shiromani Akali Dal SC Wing Punjab leader Bibi Nitu Singh, Congress Women President Deepy Mangat, farmer leader Advocate Gurjot Kaur Mangat, Safai Sewak Union President Rocky Sahota, Rahul Badlaan and several other political and social leaders.Addressing the gathering, S. Lakhvir Singh Lakha said that the demands of the sanitation workers are completely justified and should be resolved without delay. He stated that workers who dedicate themselves to maintaining cleanliness and providing a healthy environment for the public should not be subjected to injustice.Bibi Nitu Singh said that a large number of sanitation workers belong to the SC and Valmiki communities. She added that these communities have always served society selflessly, but it is unfortunate that they are now being forced to take to the streets to secure their rights.Deepy Mangat said that the prolonged agitation has affected sanitation services in the town, increasing the risk of the spread of diseases. She urged the government to resolve the issue at the earliest in the interest of both public health and the welfare of sanitation workers.Safai Sewak Union President Rocky Sahota stated that the agitation would continue until the workers’ demands are accepted. He thanked all political and social leaders who participated in the protest march and expressed solidarity with the workers.A large number of sanitation workers, union members and local residents participated in the protest march.
