Neeru Dhanda won the gold medal in the women’s trap shooting event at the Asian Games on Tuesday, becoming the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in this event.

The 26-year-old Neeru secured the top position by hitting 28 out of 30 targets. China’s Sun Yunong finished second with 26 points, while Kuwait’s Hajar Abdulmalik secured third place with 21 points.

India Wins Silver in Women’s Trap Team Event

Earlier on Tuesday morning, the Indian women’s team won the silver medal in the trap event with a score of 328. The team included Neeru Dhanda, along with Ashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer.

China won the gold medal in the event with a score of 346, while Kuwait secured the bronze medal with 325 points.

India’s Fifth Gold Medal at the Asian Games

Neeru Dhanda’s gold is India’s fifth gold medal at the Asian Games and the country’s first top finish in an individual event.

India’s overall medal tally has now reached 47 medals, comprising five gold, 21 silver and 21 bronze medals.
