The Indian women’s hockey team defeated hosts Japan 3-1 to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Nagoya Asian Games. India registered their fourth consecutive win in Pool-B in the match played on Friday at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium.

With this victory, India’s points tally rose to 12, securing the team’s place among the top two teams in the pool and confirming their semi-final berth.

India Take 3-0 Lead

Lalremsiami Hmarjote, Ishika Chaudhary and Navneet Kaur scored for India, while Shiho Kobayakawa scored Japan’s only goal.

India adopted an attacking approach from the start of the match and took a 3-0 lead. Japan reduced the deficit early in the final quarter when Shiho Kobayakawa scored with a powerful tomahawk shot to make it 3-1.

The score remained 3-1 until the final whistle, giving India their fourth consecutive victory in Pool-B.
