Chitkara University has termed social media posts and reels claiming suicide and death at its girls’ hostel as incorrect. The university has clarified that no suicide has taken place at the girls’ hostel and no student has died there.

According to the clarification issued by the university, an ambulance arrived at the hostel in the early hours of September 24. The university said the ambulance had come to bring a female student back to the hostel from a hospital.

The university said the student resides in room number 327 and was brought back to the hostel at around 2:50 AM. It clarified that the incident had no connection with any death or suicide.

The university has also clarified social media posts regarding the arrival of a Pandit at the girls’ hostel. According to the university, his visit to the hostel did take place, but it was being presented incorrectly on social media.

The university said the man had arrived at the hostel at around 3 PM to meet his daughter, who is a student at the university. His presence had no connection with any alleged death or suicide, the university clarified.

Chitkara University has appealed to students, parents, media organisations and the general public not to rely on unverified reels, posts or messages circulating on social media and not to forward such content without verifying the facts.

The university said that such content could create unnecessary concern among students and their families. It also stated that it remains committed to the safety, well-being and privacy of its students and will take necessary steps regarding the circulation of misleading content.
