International Women’s Day Celebrated at Trinity Group of Institutions, Jalandhar

Jalandhar March 6 International Women’s Day was celebrated at Trinity Group of Institutions, Jalandhar, in collaboration with the Gender Equity Forum. The event was specially attended by Mr. Jackson Trehan, Advocate at the Punjab and Haryana High Court and an alumnus of Trinity College, who also sponsored the programme.On the occasion, several distinguished women from different fields were honoured for their valuable contributions. The awardees included Mrs. Sarla Bhardwaj (renowned Hindi poet and retired professor, S.D. College Jalandhar), Dr. Rupali Kohli (Ayurvedic Medical Officer), Mrs. Gursharan Kaur (Assistant District Attorney, Jalandhar), Mrs. Jyoti Sharma (Head Constable, Police Division No. 4, Jalandhar), Ms. Malika Handa (World Chess Champion in the specially-abled category), Mrs. Kavita Vij (social worker and retired Associate Professor, HMV College Jalandhar), Mrs. Trishla Sharma (social activist), Mrs. Sonika Kohli (social worker, Kanha Welfare Society), Dr. Reena Kakkar (owner of Mannat Hospital and President of the Female Forum of the National Integrated Medical Association), Dr. Dhanya Nair (President, Rotary Club), Dr. Divya Kalra (healthcare expert) and Sister Anita.The programme began with devotional music and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Dr. Rekha, Coordinator of the Gender Equity Forum, welcomed the guests. The honoured women also shared their experiences and inspiring journeys with the students.Assistant Professor Nidhi Sharma presented the activities of the Gender Equity Forum through a PPT. Scholarships were also distributed to students for outstanding performance in various departments and clubs. BA 6th semester students Julius and Himani Sharma were selected as Gender Champions.The event was attended by Rev. Fr. Peter Kavumpuram (Director), Rev. Fr. Anthony Joseph (Assistant Director, Trinity College), Rev. Fr. Jibu (Assistant Director, Trinity Institute of Management and Technology), Dr. Ajay Parashar (Principal, Trinity College), Dr. Pooja Gaba (Principal, Trinity Institute of Management and Technology), Rev. Sister Rita, Dr. Rekha, faculty members and students.
