VET VARSITY ORGANIZES WORKSHOP ON “PIG DISEASES AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT”

Ludhiana,College of Animal Biotechnology along with the Directorate of Extension Education,Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) organized a workshop on“Pig diseases and health management”to create awareness among progressive pig farmers of Punjab.Dr.Yashpal Singh Malik, Dean,College of Animal Biotechnology, Ludhiana highlighted the purpose behind organizing such interactive workshop for the pig farmers of the state.Lectures were delivered by Dr. Malik, Drs.Satparkash Singh, Inderpal Kaur, Anuradha Sharma and Parminder Kaur on “Emerging Health Issues in Pigs”. Various infectious diseases, especially in the context of emerging African swine fever in the neighboring Uttarakhand state.Dr.Jasbir Singh Bedi, Director,Centre of One Health, GADVASU delivered talk on “Zoonoses & Biosecurity Importance in Piggery” and emphasized the importance of adopting various biosecurity measures to get rid of various health problems and zoonoses in the piggery sector.Two booklets on infectious diseases were released by Dr.Prakash Singh Brar, Director of Extension Education,and Sh.Surinder Singh Dhindsa, Member, Board of Management of the university. Dr. Brar offered his concluding remarks in the workshop.He stressed on organizing more such kind of valuable workshops in future for betterment of farming community.He assured the farmers that the University is always putting its best for creating mass awareness.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr.Jaswinder Singh,Dr Adarsh Mishra and Dr. Deepali Kalambhe.
