Reduce Workload on Police Personnel and Control Crime, Punjab Government Should Immediately Begin New Recruitment in Punjab Police – Advocate Rajinder Pal Anand

Patiala – Today, Shri Rajinder Pal Anand, former DSP, Advocate, and State President of the Punjab Police Family Welfare Association, issued a statement saying that even ten years ago, the Punjab Police force had a strength of around 80,000 personnel, and it still stands at the same figure today. Meanwhile, the population of Punjab has increased significantly over the past decade, but the government has not initiated any new recruitment to replace the personnel who have retired.Due to the increase in population and crime, the workload on Punjab Police personnel and officers has risen drastically, leading to extreme mental stress. As a result, nearly 200 lower-ranking police employees have committed suicide so far.Keeping the current situation and the welfare of Punjab Police officers and personnel in mind, Advocate Rajinder Pal Anand, State President of the Punjab Police Family Welfare Association, has made an earnest appeal to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, to start new recruitment across various ranks in the Punjab Police at the earliest. This will help reduce the workload on existing officers and personnel, enabling them to take firm legal action against smugglers, gangsters, terrorists, and anti-social elements, and to effectively curb the growing crime in the state.
