SC Commission Resolves 3,000 Cases in Seven Months; 40 More Heard During Doraha Event

Ambedkar’s Constitution – A Document that Provides Equal Protection to Every Section of Society: Garhi
Doraha (Khanna), October 27 (Amrish Anand)A seminar dedicated to the ideology of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution, was organized at Ramgarhia Bhawan, Doraha. The event was graced by the Chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, Mr.Jasvir Singh Garhi, who attended as the chief guest. The occasion also marked the Jyoti Jot Diwas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, to whom floral tributes were paid for his unparalleled sacrifices for humanity.Addressing the gathering, Chairman Garhi said that Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution ensures equal protection and dignity for every section of society, especially the marginalized. He reiterated that the vision of Dr. Ambedkar—unity in diversity—remains the guiding spirit of the nation even today.Highlighting the Commission’s work, Mr. Garhi informed that when he assumed office, 5,700 cases were pending, and within the last seven months, 3,000 of them have already been resolved. During the Doraha event, 35 to 40 additional complaints related to employment, student issues, and matters affecting underprivileged families were heard on the spot. He emphasized that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to safeguarding constitutional rights and ensuring justice for the oppressed.Mr. Garhi described Dr. Ambedkar as a true guardian of fundamental rights, adding that Articles 14, 15, 16 and 17 of the Constitution clearly prohibit discrimination based on caste, religion, gender, race or place of birth. He urged youth to study Ambedkar’s literature and contribute towards building a just and progressive society.During the programme, awareness was created among attendees about their constitutional rights and duties. Various social and community organizations also felicitated Chairman Garhi on this occasion. On this occasion, prominent attendees included Dr. Jaspreet Singh Bija, District President (SC Wing), Aam Aadmi Party, Ludhiana Rural; Harpreet Singh Sarabha, President of the SC/BC Employees Welfare Association, Punjab; Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Senior Medical Officer, Khamano; Balwinder Singh, Jaspal Singh,Kulbir Singh, Lakhwinder Singh,Gurpreet Singh EC; Narinder Singh Maan; and Gurjant Singh from Patiala, along with a large number of participants from the area.
