Ludhiana June 26 :- Under the progressive, visionary, and dynamic leadership of Principal DDO Prof. Dr. Gursharanjeet Singh, the Red Ribbon Club of Government College, Ludhiana East observed the _International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking_ with immense enthusiasm. A thought-provoking seminar was organised in the college premises. The event aimed to sensitize young minds about the growing menace of drug use and to reinforce the collective responsibility of educational institutions in building a drug-free society.Officiating Principal Prof. Kamal Kishore graced the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the seminar with his insightful address. Speaking to students and faculty members, he elaborated on the historical evolution of drug use across civilizations and analyzed its far-reaching international implications in the modern era. He emphasized how drug abuse not only destroys the individual health but also weakens the social, economic, and moral fabric of the nations. With strong conviction, he motivated the students to take a firm pledge to stay away from drugs and narcotics, and to become the ambassadors of awareness who actively educate their peers, families, and communities about the devastating consequences of addiction. Further, he advised the youth to channelise their energies into constructive pursuits by maintaining physical fitness through regular exercise, achieving mental clarity through disciplined study and mindfulness, and preserving emotional balance to cope with the pressures of today’s highly competitive and fast-paced life. He expressed deep appreciation for the students’ enthusiastic participation, interactive questions, and their demonstrated commitment to the cause.The seminar was also enriched by the presence of distinguished faculty members Dr. Deepak Kumar and Prof. Manpreet Kaur. Both speakers addressed the gathering and reiterated the urgent need for young people to adopt healthy, disciplined, and purpose-driven lifestyle practices. They urged students to engage in sports, cultural activities, and community service as positive alternatives to harmful temptations. They further stressed that staying away from drugs is not merely a personal choice but a social responsibility, and encouraged every student to contribute actively toward the national mission of creating a healthier, safer, and drug-free India.
