Resignation comes amid a $22 million legal dispute over a 96-kilometre road to the Carmichael coal mine; company says more than 1,600 jobs will not be affected

Mick Crowe, Chief Executive Officer of Bravus, the Australian company owned by Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, has announced his resignation, citing family reasons. The company has said that the departure will not affect more than 1,600 jobs.

Meanwhile, a legal dispute with Isaac Council continues over a 96-kilometre road leading to the Carmichael coal mine in Queensland.

$22 Million Claim in Road Dispute

Bravus has filed a claim worth $22 million in connection with the dispute. Isaac Council has so far spent around $2.5 million on legal expenses. The hearing is now scheduled to take place in the middle of next year.

The company is also planning to increase its annual coal production from 10 million tonnes to 16 million tonnes.

Environmental Concerns and Opposition to Mining

On the other hand, the 'Stop Adani' campaign and Indigenous opposition groups continue to protest against the mining project. They have raised concerns about the environment, groundwater and the protection of the sacred Doongmabulla Springs.
